Become a Member of Millay House Rockland
Many of you supported the effort to restore the historic double house where Edna St. Vincent Millay was born, a project that was completed in 2023. In 2024, we were able to launch new programming for Millay House Rockland, programs that are made possible with financial support from the community through memberships and donations. Your gifts will support future community programs that are offered free to the public, including:
public writing workshops for all ages;
readings by local and nationally known writers;
historical programs about Millay;
our newly launched writer-in-residence program.
Benefits exclusive to members include:
advance notice of events, some offered locally, with others online for members not geographically present;
invitations to receptions for visiting writers;
personal invitation to the annual Millay birthday celebration held every February;
a broadside of a Millay poem for members at the Sustaining level or above;

The House Where Vincent Was Born
Learn about the Millay House in Rockland, where Pulitzer Prize winning poet, Edna St. Vincent Millay was born. In this 45 minute session, we shared some history of her birthplace in Rockland, Maine with historian Ann Morris, some youthful writing from her days at Camden High School with teacher Jen Munson who’s done a great deal of research into her juvenilia, and hear the background behind one of Millay's important but lesser known poems with poet and archivist, Jefferson Navicky.
All presenters are members of the board and staff of the nonprofit Millay House Rockland. Current board president Meg Weston will talk about our writer-in-residence and Maine Coast Writers Retreat programs, and answer questions about becoming a member.
