Inspirations & Affirmations with Ellen Goldsmith MEMBERS

$35.00

Poets read poetry. And poems often respond to or are in conversation with other poems in various ways. To name a few, there’s the “after poem” and the homage or tribute. Some poems answer, argue, or elaborate.

This session will look at some conversations from my recent collection entitled Are We There Yet?  Poems I’ve responded to include W.S. Merwin's "For the Anniversary of My Death,"  Adrienne Rich’sAn Atlas of the Difficult World” and Czeslaw Milosz's "Ars Poetics?”

For the writing segment, we’ll converse with a poem. To the poems already considered, I’ll add two by U.S Poet Laureate Arthur Sze. We’ll spend time reflecting on the experience and hearing drafts.

To end, we’ll turn to “In Memory of W.B. Yeats” by W.H. Auden.

$35 for members
$50 for non-members (includes a membership to MHR)
Attendance is capped at 10 people.
